Desription
Step 1
We use only reclaimed teak wood because it is resistant to swelling & warping. All the movement within the wood has already been made & hence it’s ready to be used. Also, when you use reclaimed lumber, you decrease the demand for newly sourced lumber which helps curb deforestation.
Step 2
Our ace craftsmen carefully carve the reclaimed teak wood into God idols, temples, showpieces, consoles & mirrors etc. All these wooden models are handcrafted therefore no two products are exactly alike making each product unique.
Step 3
All the roughness of the surface of the wood is removed by the process of ghisai. This makes the wood soft & gainless. Once the level of wood is uniform in all directions silver can be easily & neatly cladded on it.
Step 4
Thick sheets of 99% pure silver are hammered on teak wood models to get the desired shape. The silver in this process has to be 99% pure because pure silver is very malleable & therefore can be easily cladded on wood.
Step 5
Design is drawn on the cladded silver sheet & then engraved using special tools. This highly skilled process of kantrai requires utmost precision & patience. However, plain silver sheet cladding on teak wood is the toughest as making designs on it can be done to hide faults
Step 6
A special polish is rubbed on the silver items to bring out the glow. After this, a Japanese lacquer coating (anti-tarnish) is applied to the article so as to delay oxidation. Lacquer is inert and does not harm silver. It is reasonably clear and covers the silver with an airtight seal, so it does not need to be polished again & again.
We can suggest silver polishes for maintenance. For putting an anti Tarnish coating on the product please inform us immediately after placing the order.Long Lasting durable
